Fluke T6-1000 PRO vs T6-1000 vs T6-600 Review

Fluke has long been a name in the world of electrical testing equipment. With the T6 line of electrical testers, the company has not disappointed. We’ll compare the T6-1000 PRO, T6-1000, and T6-600 based on the measurements offered, technology used, and accessories provided before giving you our honest recommendation.

Fluke T6-1000 PRO Electrical Tester

Fluke T6-1000 PRO

Looking for a way to make your job easier? The Fluke T6-1000 PRO does just that. It has the capability to test wires up to AWG 4/0. Additionally, these wires can carry up to 200 amps and 1000 volts AC. The best part? You can simultaneously take these measurements to save time when you need to focus on troubleshooting issues.

Have you ever been in a loud environment and missed the alert from your electrical tester? That’s no longer a problem when you use the Fluke T6-1000 PRO. When you have the beeper set to on, the screen will turn green when testing continuity.

This electrical tester also features True-RMS Technology. You’ll get accurate measurements for voltage and current, regardless of how complex your signals are. It uses FieldSense technology that captures frequency, AC voltage, and current readings without needing to deal with live voltage.

More features of the T6-1000 PRO electrical tester

The Fluke T6-1000 PRO can take a wide range of crucial measurements, including the following:

  • Voltage: 1 to 1000 V AC or DC
  • Current: 0.1 to 200 A AC
  • Resistance: 1Ω and 100 kΩ
  • Frequency: 45 to 66 Hz

It also comes with a holster and grounding alligator clip.

While the T6-1000 electrical tester is very much like the PRO version, there are some significant differences. Both offer electrical testing without needing to handle live voltage. This design makes the process significantly easier, faster, and safer. Additionally, all electrical testing capabilities are the same between both meters.

However, the Fluke T6-1000 has a spot on the back of the unit for touch grounding. This feature is not as convenient as the grounding mechanism for the T6-1000 PRO, which uses the included alligator clip.

The T6-1000 also has a smaller FieldSensearea than the T6-1000 PRO, making the PRO slightly more advanced. The T6-1000 does not come with any accessories like the PRO version.

More features of the T6-1000 electrical tester

  • Automatic shutoff after 15 minutes
  • Ridges that act as finger guards to increase the safety of the operation
  • Hazardous voltage warning light
  • Backlit display

Fluke T6-600

If you’re looking for something to take even more advanced and powerful readings than the T6-1000 models offer, the T6-600 may be just what you need. Like the previously discussed electrical testers, this model performs all tests without requiring test leads.

It also works with wires up to AWG 4/0 and relies on FieldSense technology to detect voltage. This technology is phenomenal in that it detects an electric field to measure voltage, while other open-fork meters detect a magnetic field. This produces a more accurate reading, ensuring you get the best results every time. All three meters share this technology, but you’re likely to find the T6-600 is much more advanced based on the readings it can take.

Like the T6-1000, this electrical tester does not come with any accessories.

More features of the T6-600 electrical tester

The T6-600 offers a range of advanced measurements for readings, including the following:

  • True-RMS voltage and current: 0 to 200 A AC or 1 to 600 V AC or DC
  • Resistance: 1 Ω to 2000 Ω

It also features a backlit display to make your readings even easier to see.

Recommendation

While at first glance, these electrical testers all seem the same, there are several subtle nuances that make them different. All three are excellent meters for home use, but the T6-1000 and T6-1000 PRO are better for business operations.

If you need to make higher voltage and current readings, the T6-600 is not the one to turn to. While it boasts an exceptional range of resistance measurements, it falls a bit short on the other two measurements, which are often some of the most essential to an electrician.

While the T6-1000 and T6-1000 PRO offer the same great benefits, the PRO is a more convenient choice due to its alligator clip for grounding. It can be challenging to hold the meter on something to ground the meter while taking a measurement, which represents a significant downside for the T6-1000.

To get the biggest bang for your investment, the T6-1000 PRO offers all the readings you need in respectable ranges. Plus, it doesn’t require touch grounding, making it ideal for professional and at-home operations.
